The name Moorcroft can refer to ceramics designer and master potter William Moorcroft (1872 – 1945), the pottery he founded (1913 – present), or to his son Walter Moorcroft (1917 – 2002), who ran the factory from 1945 to 1987 and was a fine designer in his own right. Noted design types and techniques include Aurelian Ware, Florian Ware and Flambé. William Moorcroft’s design patterns are famous and sought-after to the present day, and Moorcroft pottery is one of few categories of antiques to have held its value right through the Global Financial Crisis of the early 21st Century.
